Arianespace’s successful relationship with the Indian space and telecommunications sectors is being highlighted at the World Space-Biz 2010 international conference in Bangalore.
Speaking during the event’s opening day panel on access to space, Chairman & CEO Jean-Yves Le Gall underscored Arianespace’s long-established partnership with India – which includes 13 satellites orbited by the company for Indian customers since 1981, starting with launch of the Apple experimental spacecraft in 1981.
With two additional Indian spacecraft in Arianespace’s order book, this strong working relationship is set to continue over the coming years.
During an upcoming mission from the Spaceport in French Guiana, a heavy-lift Ariane 5 will loft the Indian Space Research Organization’s INSAT 4G communications satellite.
The Indian space agency once again reinforced its confidence in Arianespace’s launch service & solutions offer earlier this month, selecting the company to orbit GSAT 10 during a flight slated for 2012.
The partnership is further enhanced by launch services through joint contract proposals for Arianespace and Indian Space Research Organization launchers.
World Space-Biz – which held its inaugural event in 2008 – provides a venue for players in the international space sector to discuss future commercial prospects, with a special emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region.
This year’s conference is deliberating on issues such as space access and commercialization, space adventure and exploration, and risk management.
